Asthma affects millions of people worldwide. A disease of the respiratory system, asthma causes airways to constrict so that breathing is hindered. Sufferers of asthma know how terrifying the disease can be and how dependent they are on medicines such as respiratory inhalers to protect their health and often their lives.

But there is a movement of asthma sufferers who are now turning to alternative asthma medicine to alleviate their symptoms and prevent attacks. While not focused on traditional remedies, alternative asthma medicine can be just as effective in ensuring long lasting health for its patients.

However, bear in mind that no alternative asthma medicine should be used independently. Asthma is a disease and should be treated as such; proper medical supervision by a licensed doctor who specializes in asthma is always recommended. Rather, alternative asthma medicine can be used in conjunction with traditional medicine so that patients can receive the best of both worlds in asthma treatment.

In seeking alternative asthma medicine, asthma sufferers have reported success with a number of different strategies including consistent and dedicated chiropractic treatments, acupuncture, laser treatments, and even yoga.

Each of these alternative asthma medicine treatments requires consistency. They are not quick fixes or one time only procedures. Many asthma patients report a weekly regimen of alternative asthma medicine, along with the care and guidance of a professional medical doctor has gone a long way to increased health.

Logic follows that if you treat the whole body in a preventative way, in many cases symptoms of specific illness are vastly improved. Further, asthma sufferers report an increased feeling of control; they are taking control of their asthma, taking ongoing preventative measures to alleviate symptoms and ward off asthma attacks in the future.

Do your research before you begin experimenting with alternative asthma medicine. Many online forums will offer you a chance to talk to other asthma sufferers; learning what has worked for other people can help you narrow down the options as well as educate you on the experience before you give it a try.

No matter which route you choose in search of alternative asthma medicine, you are likely to find that a combination of several treatments works best for you. No one remedy is likely to completely eradicate asthma. But with research, patience, and ongoing experimentation, you can find your own path to treatment through alternative asthma medicine.

There are many choices when looking for alternative medicines. Today, more people are turning to these alternatives for their treatments than ever before. These types of medicines provide a different approach than conventional medicine in health care systems and practices.

What is Alternative Medicine?

Some examples of alternative medicine are chiropractic, massage, acupuncture, homeopathy, osteopathy, and naturopathy. Although you may be unfamiliar with these treatments, there are people all over the world successfully using them.

In several ways, alternative medicine offers a different outlook on healthcare than conventional medicine. The usual treatments are surgery, chemotherapy, antibiotics and other types of drugs; however, there is growing evidence and awareness that alternative treatments can be less costly, less invasive, and sometimes safer than well-known conventional treatments.

A Higher Stand of Health

The goal of alternative medicine is a higher standard of health, not just the absence of disease. For many years, individuals were given a clean bill of health without considering their emotional, spiritual or social needs. Alternative medicine considers the health and well being of the person by evaluating the physical, emotional and psychological makeup and needs. The patient is examined as a person and not just a number or case. Patients are encouraged to participate in decisions instead of being a passive subject.

Healing the Body

Conventional medicine has typically treated and removed symptoms as quickly as possible. Sometimes the results are dramatic and immediate with traditional surgeries and medicines. Sometimes, however, this creates other physical problems. The alternative is to help the body heal itself.

By using less dramatic treatment, the body is given a chance to work through its own healing therapy. Instead of synthetic medicines, the use of whole foods, herbs, homeopathic and nutritional supplements are utilized. The results may take longer but in the end the body will be healthier. True healing can occur in this way, increasing the chances that the symptoms will not return.

Finding an Alternative Professional

If you are planning to consult an alternative professional for a specific need, it is recommended that you consult with a medical doctor or osteopathic physician to get a diagnosis. They go through extensive training in diagnosing illnesses and diseases. This step could lead you to the correct treatment and avoid confusion. After you have had your exam and diagnosis, ask for the recommended treatment. Then look for an alternative treatment that may be easier on your body and possibly more effective.

There are different ways to find a practitioner. One of the most helpful is to get referrals from family and friends, your doctor, or other health care providers. Also use the resources at the library, the Internet, and medical information organizations. When you have a list of referrals, begin to gather information on the professionals. Ask for literature, find out how long they have been practicing, and what practices they use. Check to see if your insurance policy will cover their fees and what will be expected from you.

Having a Consultation

Be prepared when you consult with the professional. Describe your symptoms or condition clearly. Be sure to include a complete medical history. Explain what you have learned about alternative treatments.

Listen carefully to the suggested treatment and ask questions to make sure you understand. Ask what the benefits will be from this therapy. Find out how long the treatment will take and if you should expect side effects.

Making a Choice

Did he answer your questions and make you comfortable? Is the treatment acceptable to you? Now you can decide if this practitioner is right for you.

Before you choose alternative medicines, take the steps necessary to ensure you are treating the problem, not just the symptoms. You’ll soon discover the long-term benefits of alternative medicines.

The following article covers a topic that has recently moved to center stage–at least it seems that way. If you’ve been thinking you need to know more about it, here’s your opportunity.

Alternative medicine is the preferred choice of more than 90% of arthritis sufferers in the United States. Studies have shown that patients with arthritis and other rheumatic disorders tend to resort to alternative medicine more frequently than the general population. Studies have also shown that the users of alternative medicine for arthritis tended to be younger and better educated.

The upbeat trend in the popularity of alternative medicine continues to grow. Some alternative treatments, like chondroitin and glucosamine have been found to have potential benefits. Many others don’t have sufficient scientific support for their use. Although most of them don’t harm, there are a few that do. Here are a few therapies that don’t really harm.

Eat more natural food and significantly reduce processed food. The link between arthritis and the stomach is as old as the hills. Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, believed that our digestive system has a great influence on the development of rheumatic diseases. Arthritis patients should reduce significantly or even eliminate certain foods like eggs, beef, nuts, milk and grains. Many scientific studies have shown that the exclusion of dairy alleviates pain. A good, balanced, healthy diet is the first and safest alternate medicine for arthritis.

Gammalinolenic acid, commonly found in evening primrose and borage seed oils has been found to reduce tenderness in joints and has been concluded as beneficial in reducing pain arising from arthritis.

If you find yourself confused by what you’ve read to this point, don’t despair. Everything should be crystal clear by the time you finish.

Celery extracts have been used successfully in Japan. Though there are no clinical studies to prove the effectiveness of celery, patients have experienced significant reduction in pain. Celery is a diuretic and bound to make you take frequent trips to the toilet. Since no other side effects were reported, celery is worth a try. There have been reports of the pain coming back after the usage of celery was discontinued. Nevertheless, it’s safer than the pills your doctor prescribes.

Other alternative therapies:

Here are a few useful herbs that have an effect on arthritis: Devil’s claw, capsaicin, Phytodolor and avocado/soyabean unsaponifiables. Magnetic Therapy: Several studies have been conducted on the use of magnets as a treatment for arthritis, but most of them have conflicting results. There have been interesting results from the use of magnets for the rheumatoid arthritis of the knee but it is not possible to arrive at a verdict on this treatment technique. Many people have reported reduction in pain after being treated by magnets.

Studies on the effects of fasting have proved that it can help in the control of body ailments. Fasting at least once a month is believed to be good even for healthy people. This is now widely used as a supporting therapy for various conditions including arthritis. Since it is free of side effects and naturally incurs no cost it can be tried out by any arthritic patients. A combination of fasting and healthy vegetarian diet is a potential alternative therapy.

A study conducted in Norway has shown that patients subjected to vegetarian diets and fasting showed significant improvements in the condition of tender joints, duration of morning stiffness, Ritchie’s articular index, number of swollen joints, grip strength. C-reactive protein and the duration of morning stiffness. The study concluded that the above dietary regime is useful to patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis.

Now you can understand why there’s a growing interest in arthritis. When people start looking for more information about arthritis, you’ll be in a position to meet their needs.

Arthritis had Mrs. Thompson grounded for years. She had seen several doctors with no permanent solution to the problem. As an alternative medicinal stream, Mrs. Thomson agreed to use aromatherapy. Regular massage with the essential oils of lemon balm, rose, black spruce, tarragon and jasmine was recommended. She testifies to the positive effect aromatherapy had on her condition.

Many people like Mrs. Thompson have found relief in aromatherapy treatment. The system of aromatherapy treatment utilises aromas and scents to heal the human being as a whole. Aromas and scents are derived from several plants and herbs. Research that has been undertaken on plants and herbs from the ancient times until now has helped determine their therapeutic benefits. However, more than a science, aromatherapy is an art and involves a creative approach in making specific blends.

Essential oils have an important role to play in aromatherapy treatment. An essential oil is the essence of plants derived through a process whereby plants are distilled through steam or water. What we get through the process is a concentrated essential oil, of which a few drops are capable of giving the desired effect.

One of the first known discoveries of the therapeutic benefits of essential oils was made by French chemist Ren?-Maurice Gattefoss?. Gattefoss? is also credited with coining the term aromatherapy. When he got a burn on his hand, he accidentally put his hand in a jar full of lavender oil. He was surprised to see that he got immediate relief and the burn left no scars on his hand. Through further research, he established the healing powers of lavender oil.

Some of the common ailments where aromatherapy treatment has been accepted as a potent solution are anxiety, stress or insomnia, muscular aches and pains, headaches, eczema, digestive problems, menstrual or menopausal problems, etc. Therefore, aromatherapy treatments heal physically as well as psychologically.

A common respiratory disorder is asthma. This is caused through contact with allergen, after a tiring exercise session or through infection. An asthmatic person experiences shortness of breath, cough and mucous production as a result of inflammation or contraction of the bronchi. The condition can be treated through aromatherapy treatment. The oils of clove bud and lemongrass have been recognised to have anti-inflammatory and anti-infectious properties. These oils along with the oils of lemon, clary sage, and angelica can be very useful for treating asthma.

Aromatherapy products are available in several stores, referred to as aromatherapy stores. These stock preparations made from herbs and plants sourced from different parts of the world; mostly, the Indian subcontinent, Middle East and the Africas.

However, the use of aromatherapy treatments must be strictly prescriptive. Toiletries, which use aromas and scents, use a very small amount of essential oils. Therefore, they are not harmful. As said earlier, essential oils are highly concentrated. If a larger dosage of it is taken, then can result in irritation or be poisonous, when used with food or drink.

Did you think essential oils being derived from plants are free from side effects? No, they are not. The common side effects of essential oils are nausea, headaches etc.

Get help from an expert practitioner on the appropriate treatment for ones condition. The person who practices aromatherapy treatment is known as aromatherapist. He either will massage the oil on the skin or would suggest the appropriate method of use. Just as one would check the credentials of a doctor practising in contemporary medicine, it is important to know whether the aromatherapist has been trained in aromatherapy treatment. An aromatherapist proceeds in the same manner as a common doctor. He will first get a detailed medical history of the individual through a series of questions on diet, lifestyle, and health problems. This goes well with the system of aromatherapy healing where the whole rather than one particular ailment is considered for treatment.

Shallots belong to the lily family (Liliacae) where onion, garlic and leeks are present. It is classified as Allium cepa var. aggregatum .Shallots are smaller and sweeter than onion and like garlic its bulb divides into multiple sections .It digests better than onion when eaten raw. The bulbs are pulled of the ground and leaves are allowed to dry. The greens above the ground which are known as scallions are used as salads and also for cooking. Shallots are an excellent source of vitamin C, potassium, dietary fiber and folic acid. It also contain calcium, iron and have a high protein quality.

There has been lot of research and studies regarding the use of shallots for health conditions. Different analysis and studies have found that shallots contains two sets of compounds -sulfur compounds, such as allyl propyl disulphide (APDS) and flavonoids, such as quercetin. Flavonoid consumption has been associated with a reduced risk of cancer, heart disease and diabetes since they are anti-cancer, antibacterial, antiviral, anti-allergenic and anti-inflammatory.

Recent studies have shown the potential health benefits of common onions and established that shallots are particularly effective against liver cancer cells. Shallots have six times the phenolic content than onions. Shallots help the liver eliminate toxins from the body and have saponins to inhibit and kill cancer cells.

Shallots are specifically linked to inhibiting human stomach cancer. Shallots produce an anti-coagulant that thins the blood and exhibit strong anti-platelet activity and are very good for patients who have symptomatic atherosclerotic disease, cardiovascular disease, heart attack and stroke. It aids brain function and thus protects against Alzheimers disease. Shallots can lower blood sugar levels in people with diabetes by preventing the degradation of insulin and increasing metabolism of glucose. Eating shallots daily helps in the growth of bone tissue and reduces the risk of developing osteoporosis by 20%. It contains Prostaglandin A-1, a powerful agent which can lower blood pressure. Sulfur content in shallots makes skin look younger. Daily intake of a little shallot will benefit in the long run. Shallots can be eaten raw or cooked till they are tender.

Discount Contacts Are Available Online Brad TriggsIf you were shopping for new contact lenses and would like convenience, variety, safety, and affordability, then you should consider looking online for the best deals on discount contacts. Today, the internet is crowded with both reputable and not so reputable companies, all vying for contact lens wearers’ business. The most important thing to consider when you choose to purchase via the internet is safety and security.

The reason that many people decide to purchase discount contacts online is simply due to convenience. Today, you see more and more couples working outside the home and when you add in all the responsibilities of the home, before long your time runs out. For that reason, people have chosen to log onto the computer and, with their current prescription, purchase discount contacts online in a matter of minutes.

Once your order is placed, the company packages the contacts and ships them directly to your door. In most cases you save money since the company avoids the high cost of overhead, which is another reason people buy their contacts online. Depending on the type of contact lenses worn, the replacement cost plus the cost of supplies can be expensive. However, when you order online, you typically save! With tight budgets, this is a real benefit for most wearers.

To choose which lenses to purchase, your vision care specialist will probably direct you. Generally, you will see brands such as Acuvue, Bausch & Lomb, Biomedics, Focus, Frequency, and FreshLook, among others. Several of the best manufacturers to consider when you buy discount contacts online are Johnson & Johnson, Ciba Vision, and CooperVision, all leaders in the contact lens industry.

With online buying, you can save as much as 70% off the retail price of contacts and enjoy a hassle-free transaction. Most of the time shipping is included free. If you have been attempting to purchase your lenses online but find it near impossible to get your hands on the prescription, there is good news! As of February 2004, legislation was passed whereby all U.S. consumers are entitled to receive a copy of their contact lens prescription. With that, all contact lens wearers have the freedom to purchase their lenses through their personal doctor or online.

One of the biggest challenges when you purchase discount contacts online has to do with the vast choices. Let us offer you a few tips to get started. First, try to ignore preconceived ideas that one online source is cheaper than another source. Instead, take the time to consider a number of options before you begin ruling in or out online companies. Secondly, remember that when you buy discount contacts online, you do take on some degree of risk. There are many reputable companies but you can ask your doctor for recommendations or stick with proven retailers like 1 800 Contacts or Coastal Contacts. Finally, instead of focusing all on price, consider value. This means weighing all factors including price, availability, convenience, shipping cost, customer support, and bundled offers.

Alternative medicine provides services not available through conventional medicine, incorporating spiritual, metaphysical, and religious traditions, along with emerging methods of treatment and healing. Alternative medicines include naturopathy, Ayurveda, homeopathy, acupuncture and acupressure, chiropractic, hydrotherapy, hypnotherapy, and many other therapies and medicines that are designed to restore and maintain good health.

The principle of holistic alternative medicine is that a pathogen, a virus or bacteria, for instance, is not the cause of illness, but rather that illness is the consequence of the body’s reaction to the pathogen. Naturopathic and holistic alternative medicine practitioners threat their patients with methods that alleviate the symptoms of the disease. Various alternative medicine methods are effective in treating a wide range of major and minor medical conditions, and research has proven that specific alternative treatments are effective. Research also proves that the demand for alternative medicines is growing, and that some conventional physicians support aspects of alternative medicine.

Alternative medicine promotes patient empowerment, psychic and spiritual growth, and mental, emotional, and physical health. Alternative medicine teaches the positive effects of good nutrition and the intake of supplemental vitamins and minerals, and uses of plants, herbs, and animal and mineral products that treat illness and promote health.

Have you ever suffered from a horrible headache when you thought the best remedy might be for someone to bash you over the head, or to pull your hair out? Then you might have some experience with alternative medicine!

In all seriousness, alternative medicine is not about hurting yourself, but involves investigating other potential methods to treat an ailment besides synthetic drugs. A good purpose for alternative medicine is to avoid developing a dependence on drugs of any type, which can supersede any medicinal or curing effects they might have. Searching for different ways of dealing with your physical or emotional issues or conditions can end up being better for you in the long run.

A great deal of alternative medicine treatments come from ancient medicinal knowledge and insight. Many different types of remedies used by different cultures through the years, including the use of needles for pain relief, herbs for medicinal treatments, or even massage therapy, are considered a form of medicine by the respective users because they work to some degree. However, many alternative treatments are unknown to the general public, as they are not in conformity with the mass marketed treatments and pharmaceuticals.

The definition of alternative medicine

There is really no one ultimate definition of alternative medicine. There are so many various methods and treatments that have been and continue to be investigated and promoted that it is hard to firmly define it.

Some of these alternative names to alternative medicine include holistic medicine, natural medicine, integrated medicine, and complementary medicine. They are all variations of the same idea, which is natural and alternative medicine. The design of alternative medicine is to ensure that all parts of a person?s life and being are well and strong.

The point of view of the alternative medicine collective

A standard of those who advocate alternative medicine is that health isn?t only the absence of illness or disease. Alternative medicine works to ensure that one?s purpose in life is sustained, because a person without a purpose is not able to achieve his fullest potential. There needs to be inspiration and motivation to allow life to be lived to its fullest.

It is thought that illness might not be the end of one?s world. Infection is not the only cause of sickness. The mind has the power to change one?s personality completely. Take the great warrior king Asoka, for example. He was so stirred by the death and devastation brought about by the Kalinga war that he became a Buddhist reformer. In this respect, illness has the capacity to bring about change, to make us better human beings. For that reason, alternative medicine strives to consider not only the physical health of a person, but also his personality and emotions in treating ailments and bringing about total well-being.

Sometimes, when you aren?t feeling that great, it might be better to relax by listening to calming music, taking a walk, or just thinking about life, rather than taking a pill to treat something momentarily. Discovering your purpose will give you a feeling of strength and the realization that life is worth living!

Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is a term used to describe a diverse group of healing systems that are not presently considered to be part of mainstream medicine also known as traditional or western medicine. The goal of conventional medicine is to locate the physical source of a particular disease and then remove it or treat or ?mask? the symptom. For example, if a patient has some sort of infection, a conventional doctor would probably prescribe a specific antibiotic to kill the invading bacteria. If a patient has an allergy, that patient is usually treated with over the counter or prescription medication to treat the symptoms.

For other cases, a patient is given a series of shots that can last many years to teach the body to build up immunity. CAM practitioners, on the other hand, take a more “holistic” approach to healthcare. They believe that health and disease involve a complex interaction of physical, spiritual, mental, emotional, genetic, environmental, and social factors. In order to treat a disease or simply promote good health, CAM practitioners treat the whole body by taking all of these factors into account. These practitioners also look at ways to prevent illness or symptoms.

In the United States, this holistic approach to health has been labeled “alternative” for a variety of scientific, cultural, and political reasons. When you think about it, traditional medicine in the United States is really the alternative when you consider things like Chinese Medicine which has been practices for thousands of years not a couple of hundred years. In many cases it is very difficult to scientifically test alternative practices, such as acupuncture, in the same way that certain conventional practices, such as medications, are tested. Although alternative therapies are often based on hundreds — in some cases thousands — of years of experience, the conventional medical community relies heavily on scientific evidence (rather than clinical experience) when evaluating the safety and effectiveness of a particular therapy.

For this reason, many alternative practices that have not been thoroughly tested (or cannot be thoroughly tested) are considered “unscientific” by modern Western standards. Not too long ago, Chiropractic medicine was not covered by most insurance policies. In addition, many non-Western healing practices are not taught in United States medical schools, available to patients in U.S. hospitals, or even covered by health insurance in the country. So typically in the United States, medical professionals treat the symptoms and not the cause or the whole body. They don?t usually look at how to prevent the symptoms. If you have a headache, take an aspirin. If you have an allergy, take an anti-histamine. An example of a CAM would be a product called NasalGuard for allergy sufferers. This product creates an invisible electrostatic screen around the nose. Since all allergens have an electrostatic charge, it screens out the allergens and therefore a patient does not get the allergy symptoms.

Some patients and doctors even recommend NasalGuard to keep people from catching the cold or flu, as these viruses also have an electrostatic charge and are killed on contact as NasalGuard has an ingredient called Lysine which is proven to kill off these bacteria and viruses. NasalGuard can be used as a Complimentary treatment and sometimes an Alternative treatment.

What does complementary medicine and alternative medicine mean?

The terms “complementary medicine” and “alternative medicine,” although often used to mean the same thing, actually have quite different implications. Complementary medicine refers to medical practices used together with conventional medicine while alternative medicine is used in place of conventional medicine. An example of complementary medicine is the use of hypnotherapy together with pain medications to reduce anxiety and enhance relaxation in people recovering from severe burns. Following a special diet rather than taking medications to treat attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is an example of alternative medicine.

What is integrative medicine?

The term “integrative medicine” is often used interchangeably with CAM, but it has a subtle and very important different meaning. Professionals who practice integrative medicine blend appropriate CAM therapies with mainstream medicine rather than simply adding one complementary therapy (such as herbs, for example) to a standard medical treatment. For example, an integrative treatment for Alzheimer’s disease may include a combination of the following:

1. Medications that increase certain brain chemicals,

2. Antioxidants (such as vitamin E and ginkgo biloba) that scavenge free radicals,

3. Changes in lifestyle (such as walking programs and relaxation training) to reduce anxiety and improve behavior.

4. Music therapy to bolster the immune system. More and more Americans are becoming familiar with the term “integrative medicine,” and studies have found that this blended approach to healthcare is safe and effective for a growing number of medical conditions.

What are the basic principles of CAM?

Although CAM therapies vary widely, several themes can be traced through them all:

- The focus is on the whole person — physical, emotional, social, and spiritual.

- Prevention of illness is a primary concern.

- Treatments are highly individualized.

- Treatments are aimed at the causes of illness rather than at its symptoms.

- Treatments are designed to support the natural healing processes of the body.

People sometimes say to me: “Kinesiology? That’s muscle testing isn’t it?”

I often laugh and say “It is, and it isn’t. It’s that, and so much more.”

A natural therapy that originated in the 1960s, Kinesiology has brought life changing benefits to those experiencing depression, stress, anxiety, nervous tension, excessive worry, learning difficulties - and on a more physical level: pain, migraines, muscular disorders, nervous system disorders, immune system deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, digestive disorders (like Irritable Bowel Syndrome), allergies, women’s health, and candida infections.

Kinesiology uses gentle muscle testing to gather information about your state of wellbeing, and about the stress and dis-ease in your system. To do so, it relies on the bio-feedback mechanisms between your muscles and your central nervous system. This is only one of many qualities that makes it a unique alternative health therapy.

Kinesioloogy is unique also because it creates, and honours, the space for your own body & spirit to direct the course of treatment. Using muscle testing, your practitioner “communicates” with your bio-systems; exploring the underlying cause of your health issue. In this way, your practitioner can create a health solution for you that is uniquely your own.

The change you are looking for might be a physical one, or an emotional one. In either case, Kinesiology is particularly effective for those wishing to change a certain area of their life.

For example, one of my clients wanted to increase her confidence in social situations. After just one session, she found herself immediately experiencing a greater sense of ease, comfort and confidence in talking with others. In subsequent sessions, she found herself experiencing a greater sense of ease in just being herself. She also experienced the feeling of wholeness, of being connected with her heart and her soul. She felt that her life had been enriched on a deeper level, that she was happy and well.

Kinesiology is effective because it gives you an understanding of how your behaviour, attitudes and world views are based on core beliefs and deep patterns - which you may not question or even know you have. With the client I’ve just mentioned, her core issues were about connecting and listening to her heart, so that she could engage with others ways that were more meaningful and fulfilling for her.

Kinesiology enables you to see these core beliefs and deep patterns, and challenge them so that you can change your life significantly and positively - in the way that you want.

A good kinesiologist will also create a space for you to recognise how you can be empowered, how you can actually make the changes that you want. This is a lot easier than if you were just struggling with it yourself.

If you have a physical health issue, Kinesiology gives you an understanding of the emotional, nutritional and energetic factors that underly the physical factors of your dis-ease (whether it is your immune system or your nervous system). This enables you to move faster towards a healing.

How can your kinesiologist do all this? How can Kinesiology have such broad ranging success?

First of all, Kinesiology does not heal you. Your Kinesiologist simply facilitates a journey for you, in which you heal yourself. Your Kinesiologist restores and re-connects you with your body and mind’s innate ability to find balance, homeostasis. The idea of your self-healing potential can be found in ancient Western & Eastern medical traditions - ranging from Hippocrates to the Nei Jing.

Secondly, Kinesiologists are trained in a wide range of modalities including:

- anatomy, physiology, biochemistry - counselling & psychology - chinese medicine psycho-spirituality - flower essences - esoteric sciences (chakra system, bio-field or auric systems).

This training equips them with many strategies for dealing with your health and wellbeing issue.

With today?s rising insurance cost and doctors who seem to write a prescription for every ache and pain many people continue to lose trust in the medical establishment.

Watching the TV for any length of time and a variety of medical solutions will be advertised ? all with varied side effects. So many people are sick and battling long-term illness using aggressive drugs and antibiotics that wage war on their immune system. Now many people turn there back on the medical community and seek alternative medicine using herbal treatments against diseases like cancer or making simple diet changes to fight symptoms of acid reflux.

Alternative treatments continue to gain popularity in what many once considered hopeless situations. As with any medical issue ? do some research. Herbal medicine is not the cure all and can cause side effects. However, herbal treatments are an alternative to consider before heading down the traditional medicine route.

Many Forms of Alternative Medicine and Health Care

The most common of alternative treatments is probably acupuncture and Chinese herbs, although the West also holds some herbal traditions. Finding you way through the maze of alternative medicines can confuse anyone but there seems to be an herb for almost anything. Stop for a moment and think of where the drug companies get their base of chemical and drug data ? from plants and herbs.

What Makes Me a Believer in Alternative Treatments

A friend?s child had been made sick from mainstream medical treatments received as a child. A reaction to a drug left the boy severe problems. After visiting countless doctors the only advice they received ? put they boy in an institution and care for your other kids. Unwilling to accept that advice the couple looked for alternative treatments. After searching for a while they discovered that by simply modifying the boys diet by eating natural foods the symptoms that stumped the doctors went away.

The damages of the drug remain evident. However, the boy has been able to live and function in a world the doctors said he could never join. He even attended public high school. It is real life lessons like these that make me look to the use of alternative medicines and treatments whenever possible for my family for any health problems we may experience.
